Aamby Valley Golf Course
Aamby Valley Golf Club, Aamby Valley City, Mumbai, India – Situated in the Western Ghat mountains between Pune and Mumbai (Bombay), within the 4,300 hectare residential resort, the award-winning course designed by David Hemstock in 1997 has now held several championships, including an Asian Tour tournament, and was in 2005 declared by the Professional Golfers Association of India as the best course in the country.
Work on the project was a case of blood, sweat, and tears, with a rocky site up in the mountains, a huge engineering project by the Sahara organisation, sponsors of a wide range of international sports. David worked with Mr Kapil Dev, one of the world’s greatest cricketers and consultant with Sahara, also a scratch golfer, on the design concept.
