Kendal Rugby Union Football Club
This project was undertaken with Morbaine Ltd, a development company acting on behalf of Sainsbury’s supermarkets to re-locate the old stadium to a new out-of-town location. The sensitive site chosen was located adjacent to the ecologically significant River Mint. This increased the complexities involved, particularly with regard to drainage attenuation.
Hemstock Design was involved with the design and planning of the natural and synthetic turf surfaces, earthworks calculations and drainage design, as well as agronomic aspects and linking to the synthetic pitch construction. Due to the sensitive site conditions, our specialist consultancy services were leveraged to develop an accurate earthworks strategy, and carefully considered drainage attenuation design, storing water within the pitch drainage system before release into the river. In addition, we worked to monitor construction and help the club to set-up their maintenance management strategy.
The Club are very pleased with their new facilities, and with the dedicated support that they received from the company during the intensive construction and grow-in period.
